But that doesn’t mean the star quarterback didn’t take any contact. Prior to the game, Miller and backup Kenny Guiton went head-to-head to close out the circle drill. Watch the drill now. Yeah, for obvious reasons, Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes don’t want to risk any kind of injury to Miller or his backup.
During the halftime of Thursday’s game between Northwestern and Ohio State, Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller was presented with The Chicago Tribune’s Silver Football as the Big Ten’s top player of the 2012 season as voted by the 12 coaches. Braxton was named on 11 of 12 possible ballots (coaches cannot vote for their own players), receiving 5 first- and 5 second-place votes. Wisconsin’s Montee Ball came in second; Nebraska’s Taylor Martinez took third. Read the Chicago Tribune story announcing the winner last December here. In Urban Meyer’s much-anticipated debut, Ohio State went 12-0 and ranked No. 3 in the AP poll as one of just two FBS unbeatens. It was the sixth unbeaten and untied season in school annals. But, because of NCAA probation, the Buckeyes weren’t eligible to play in the Big Ten title game or a bowl. Still, it doesn’t diminish what Ohio State did in notching a perfect mark behind an offense with […]

The list includes only three players; and 2. neither Braxton Miller nor Montee Ball received an invite. No. 1 is the real shocker, however, considering there have been five finalists two of the past three years. The last time there were three: 2008. Some straw polls have Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel on top in the Heisman hunt. Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o, Kansas State’s Collin Klein and USC’s Marqise Lee also remain viable. The Big Ten’s biggest beneficiary to the upsets last week is Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller. And he can enhance his resume with a big effort in a win vs. Michigan on Saturday.
