Video: Nebraska's Bo Pelini helps serviceman surprise wife

These days, when he’s not tweeting (example 1, example 2), calling into a Nebraska radio show or discussing his faux cat, Nebraska football coach Bo Pelini is busy organizing military homecomings. Pelini recently helped Sergeant Matthew Salomons surprise his wife, Becca, at the team’s football facility. Becca thought she was just getting a tour of the facility when Salomons, who spent nine months in the Middle East, comes in from another room and surprises her. No matter how many of these you see, they never get old. Great stuff, Nebraska! h/t: @Huskers About Brent Yarina BTN.com senior editor Brent Yarina

Nebraska's Bo Pelini just wrote a clever tweet

At halftime of Friday’s NCAA Tournament game between Nebraska and Baylor, Nebraska football coach Bo Pelini posted a tweet to Twitter that immediately caught fire. The Huskers trailed 29-16 at halftime in their first round game. Read the tweet in this post. Can I get fined if I comment about basketball officiating? — Bo Pelini (@BoPelini) March 21, 2014 It’s not the first time Pelini has had some fun on Twitter. Nebraska basketball coach Tim Miles, who is also active on Twitter, took a different approach. Miles often tweets at halftime of games, and here’s what he posted before the

Bo Pelini calls into Nebraska baseball show

A familiar voice called a Tuesday radio show on the Husker Sports Network with Nebraska baseball coach Darin Erstad and asked a baseball question. While taking calls, the show’s host introduces the caller by saying, “Bo, you’re up next with Coach Erstad.” “Bo” goes on to ask if the Cleveland Indians would win the Wold Series this year. Erstad, a Nebraska product and a former major leaguer, instantly recognizes the voice as that of Nebraska football coach Bo Pelini. Still, Erstad goes on to say nice things about the Indians and their fans. But then he drops the hammer on

Dienhart: Extension for Pelini brings stability

It looked like Bo Pelini would enter 2014 on a bit of a hot seat, but that talk has been cooled off with news that he’s inked a five-year contract extension. It’s a remarkable turn of events. [MORE: Video: Bo Pelini talks 2014 recruiting class ] The Huskers closed on the 2013 regular season with a 38-17 home loss to Iowa in which Pelini failed to conduct himself with proper sideline decorum. And in the post-game aftermath, he lashed out and dared someone to fire him. The school subsequently issued a statement of support. Now, Pelini is getting a contract

Twitter: @FauxPelini tweets Valentine's day poems

Bo Pelini’s popular faux Twitter account (@FauxPelini) took to social media today in honor of Valentine’s Day. [ MORE: Bo Pelini poses for selfie, and the internet loves it ] To Husker fans: Roses are red Violets are blue Sorry for that bad language Next time I'll say "screw." — Fake Bo Pelini (@FauxPelini) February 14, 2014 The @Huskers Twitter account responded shortly after, tweeting this humorous message to @FauxPelini. @FauxPelini: #Huskers are red, no one likes blue, You're not our real coach, but we wanted to make sure you knew. pic.twitter.com/jH2oUvTCwE

Bo Pelini can do no wrong. The Nebraska coach continued his run of internet gold Friday night when he posed for a selfie with a Huskers fan. See a couple of the photos in this post. https://twitter.com/BridgetWiggin18/status/431958618464718849 No doubt, we’re seeing a softer side of Pelini recently. Let’s see, in the last month, there was this Twitter exchange on the night of the BCS title game, this story that he wrestled a recruit, and this classic response about @FauxPelini’s cat in the video below. This. Is. Awesome! Bo Pelini says "my cat (@FauxPelini) was w/ me every step of the

Video: Bo Pelini gives cat credit for recruiting

Bo Pelini and Nebraska have a new closer that is tough to top when it comes to recruiting. That would be the “cat” in @FauxPelini‘s Twitter photo. Pelini joked with BTN’s Mike Hall that the cat was influential in landing this year’s recruiting class during Wednesday’s “Signing Day Special.” The cat did make a few “recruiting visits,” after all, according to this tweet. Watch Pelini talk about the cat in this post. Here’s what Pelini said: “I tell you, my cat was with me every step of the way. I don’t go anywhere without him. Without him, I wouldn’t be

Twitter: @FauxPelini and his cat are back in the news

Earlier this month during the BCS title game, Bo Pelini “won” Twitter by tweeting at his parody account, @FauxPelini, to ask for his cat back. Read more here. Three weeks later, the cat featured in the fake account’s photo is back in the news. Sort of. You see, Nebraska recently tweeted a picture of a cat on Pelini’s desk. Why? For fun, and as a way to promote the @FauxPelini-Reddit Ask Me Anything feature. @RedditCFB Delivered without comment or context. #GBR pic.twitter.com/skUzdbYbux — Nebraska Huskers (@Huskers) January 24, 2014 Read @FauxPelini and HuskersAthletics’ responses to fans’ questions here. Twitter: Bo Pelini tweets at his faux account, @FauxPelini

Bo Pelini has surprised us a couple of times in the last year. It all started with Nebraska’s Harlem Shake video, and then there was the cell phone prank he played on his team. Neither compares to what the coach did during Monday night’s BCS title game. It’s true, Pelini tweeted at his popular faux Twitter account (@FauxPelini), asking for his faux cat back, the one featured in the account’s avatar. Check out the entertaining exchange below: @FauxPelini ok enough is enough… I want my cat back. You've had her long enough! — Bo Pelini (@BoPelini) January 7, 2014 Shocked
