Badgers-Boilers to play in Week 4 in 2013

Wisconsin football coach Bret Bielema has long been a proponent of playing Big Ten games during the season’s first four weeks, and he’ll get his wish in 2013. Wisconsin announced Wednesday in a press release that it will host Purdue on Sept. 21, 2013 – also known as Week 4 – one week before the Big Ten typically starts conference play.

Michigan State-Kansas co-headlines ESPN marathon

For a fifth consecutive year, ESPN will open the college basketball season with a 24-hour marathon of hoops, starting at midnight ET Tuesday, Nov. 13. The 11-game slate features 12 NCAA tournament teams from last season, including this dandy of a heavyweight battle: Michigan State-Kansas (7 p.m. ET). The game precedes Duke-Kentucky, the event’s other headliner, and pits last year’s Big Ten and Big 12 champions. See the full schedule.

ESPN, Rose Bowl agree to 12-year extension

(AP) The Rose Bowl has agreed to a 12-year extension with ESPN that will keep the game on the network through 2026. ESPN President John Skipper, Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany, Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott and Rose Bowl officials announced the deal Thursday. Skipper called the Rose Bowl “one of sport’s most meaningful” events.

Michigan to host App. State, take two-year hiatus from ND

The Michigan football team announced Wednesday updates to the non-conference schedules for the 2014-16 seasons and the future schedule with Notre Dame. The highlights: Appalachian State, which upset Michigan in the 2007 season opener, will return to Michigan Stadium for the 2014 opener and Michigan will play its first Thursday night game, at Utah in the 2015 opener.

BTN to air 15 games during first three weekends

CHICAGO – Coming off its most successful season, with record ratings and 16 games featuring a top 25-ranked team, BTN will air 15 Big Ten games during the first three weekends of the 2012 college football season. Now in 51 million homes, the five-year-old network will air the debut of the Urban Meyer era at Ohio State and the return of defending Big Ten champion Wisconsin in the first week of the season.

Big Ten announces 2015-16 conference slates

(BigTen.org) The Big Ten office announced the conference schedules for the 2015 and 2016 football seasons Monday, as approved by administrators during the Big Ten Joint Group Meetings last week in Chicago. Both the 2015 and 2016 schedules will feature all 12 teams in action the opening weekend and the last two Saturdays of Big Ten competition, while two teams will have byes during each of the other six weekends.

Rowing Championship Held Sunday

The 2012 Big Ten Rowing Championships take place Sunday at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis. This year marks the second consecutive that the event has taken place at the course, and the event will return to Eagle Creek Park again in 2013. The 2012 Big Ten Rowing Championships are a seven-lane, finals-only event.  Ohio State enters the event as defending champion after taking an 18-point margin of victory over second-place Michigan.
