With the Big Ten expected to compete for a seventh straight national championship, BTN will provide extensive live coverage of Big Ten Wrestling for the 2012-13 season on television and online. The television schedule includes a pair of Monday night meets live in primetime; a late-season showdown between Penn State and Iowa, which between them have accounted for the past five National Champions; and live coverage of both the Midlands Championships and the Big Ten Wrestling Championships.

It didn’t take long for Northwestern to fill an opening in the 2013 football schedule after Vanderbilt bailed on two future games against the Wildcats. Northwestern will play Western Michigan on Sept. 14, 2013 in what will be the seventh home game for Northwestern next season. Read more at NUsports,.com.

Schools are changing and massaging schedules all the time. So, don’t flip out over recent revelations about Vanderbilt opting out of upcoming games with Ohio State and Northwestern. Now, the manner in which Vanderbilt informed each school (through the mail) wasn’t appropriate. But canceling a series? Not a big deal.

The Chicago Tribune’s Teddy Greenstein is reporting that Vanderbilt canceled it’s 2013 and 2014 football games with Northwestern this week, and the same SEC school has also canceled its 2013 game against Ohio State, too. Northwestern beat Vanderbilt in Evanston earlier this season.

Gene Smith and Ohio State aren’t messing around. The Buckeyes said they wanted to schedule top nonconference teams in future seasons, and they’re doing just that. A week after announcing a home-and-home series with TCU, Ohio State announced Wednesday a home-and-home with Texas.

Ohio State and TCU have agreed on a home-and-home football series in 2018 and 2019, the two schools announced Tuesday. The Buckeyes will play at TCU in 2018, with the Horned Frogs visiting Columbus in 2019.

The Big Ten Conference announced the 2012-13 Big Ten men’s basketball schedule Thursday. The conference season begins on New Year’s Eve and culminates in March with the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament at the United Center in Chicago.

For the first time since 1994, the Illinois football team will play a game at Soldier Field. The school announced Tuesday that it will play Washington on Sept. 14, 2013, at the historic home of the Chicago Bears.

Wisconsin football coach Bret Bielema has long been a proponent of playing Big Ten games during the season’s first four weeks, and he’ll get his wish in 2013. Wisconsin announced Wednesday in a press release that it will host Purdue on Sept. 21, 2013 – also known as Week 4 – one week before the Big Ten typically starts conference play.

Now that the Big Ten and Pac-12 decided to put the kibosh on its scheduling plan across all sports, the Big Ten has a decision to make when it comes to future football schedules. Will the conference remain at eight conference games, or will it move to nine? Prior to the previous announcement with the Pac-12, it looked like the Big Ten was entertaining the latter.

For a fifth consecutive year, ESPN will open the college basketball season with a 24-hour marathon of hoops, starting at midnight ET Tuesday, Nov. 13. The 11-game slate features 12 NCAA tournament teams from last season, including this dandy of a heavyweight battle: Michigan State-Kansas (7 p.m. ET).
