The 2013 BTN B1G 10K was held Saturday morning in Chicago. It was the second annual running, and a record 11,415 runners finished. See some of the best photos from the event in this post. There were a couple surprise visitors at the event, too, as Testudo, Maryland’s mascot, and Scarlet Knight, Rutgers’ mascot, were in town for the fun. Both schools join the Big Ten in 2014.

It’s official: Michigan will play for its first national championship since 1989. The Wolverines downed Syracuse, 61-56, in Saturday night’s national semifinal at the Georgia Dome to advance to the national championship game. Michigan steamrolled Florida, 79-59, Sunday to advance to the Final Four in Atlanta. The Wolverines dominated from the start, scoring the game’s first 13 points, and never looked back. The Big Ten went 10-3 in the opening weekend of the NCAA tourney and put four teams in the Sweet 16. The 10 wins set a conference record for the Rounds of 64 and 32, while the four Sweet 16 teams tied a conference record.

Wisconsin’s Barry Alvarez joined his Badgers football team at Disneyland on Wednesday as part of the traditional kick off to the week’s festivities leading to the historic game in Pasadena on Tuesday. They were welcomed by Mickey Mouse, who high-fived the head coaches. “I thought these days are over,” said Alvarez, who has returned to coach this one game for Wisconsin after Bret Bielema left for Arkansas. “It’s like a Christmas present for me.”
