The sting of being left out of the College Football Playoff has subsided for Ohio State, as the Big Ten champs look for a strong finish in the Cotton Bowl vs. USC, a fellow college football blueblood. In fact, many feel the Buckeyes’ clash with Pac-12 champ Trojans is one of the best postseason matchups.
Just four points separated Penn State from a perfect record and a Big Ten title game berth. Alas, the Nittany Lions landed in the Fiesta with a matchup vs. Washington, a playoff participant last year. No doubt, this is one of the most enticing bowl matchups in the postseason landscape.
Wisconsin had its hopes set on making the playoff for the first time, but the loss to Ohio State—the Badgers’ first of the season after a 12-0 start--in the Big Ten title game killed those dreams. But landing in the Orange Bowl vs. Miami offers a good opportunity to close the season with a victory vs. a marquee foe.
This will be Iowa’s first trip to the Pinstripe Bowl and its first meeting with Boston College, as the Hawkeyes look to cap what has been a season of ups and downs. There was the high of pounding then-No. 3 Ohio State, 55-24, and the low of losing on the last play vs. then-No. 4 Penn State, 21-19.
Northwestern will be making its eighth bowl trip in the last 10 years, as Pat Fitzgerald continues to take this program to higher levels. This year, it's the Music City Bowl vs. Kentucky, in a battle of Wildcats.

This will be the third time Iowa and Florida will meet in the Outback Bowl. The teams split their first two meetings, the Hawkeyes winning to end the 2003 season and the Gators prevailing two years later. They've met only one other time, in 1983.
