BTN announces Big Ten baseball tourney coverage

CHICAGO – BTN’s coverage of the Big Ten Baseball Tournament begins at 6 PM ET on Wednesday with No. 1 Indiana vs. No. 8 Iowa from TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb., home of the College World Series. The network will also carry games 6, 7 and 8 on Thursday, each game Friday and Saturday and the Big Ten Baseball Tournament Championship Game, which will air at 2 PM ET on Sunday.

The Big Ten released the 2014 Big Ten Baseball Tournament bracket on Saturday evening, with Indiana securing the top seed after winning its second straight conference title. The Hoosiers claimed the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament after going 21-3 in conference play.

Big Ten baseball tourney expands to eight teams

For the first time the Big Ten Baseball Tournament will feature eight teams starting this season when the tourney is in Nebraska. The games will be played at May 21 to 25 at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, the same field that hosts the College World Series.

Indiana wins Big Ten tourney title on walk-off hit

One day after Nebraska used a walk-off blast to force Sunday’s winner-take-all game at the Big Ten tournament, Indiana walked-off to claim the tourney crown and earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tourney. Scott Donley provided the heroics Sunday, driving a liner to left-center with the bases loaded to clinch the 4-3 win.

Saturday’s two games in the 2013 Big Ten Baseball Tournament are set after three more games at Target Field ended on Friday. Nebraska will play Ohio State, then the winner of that game will face top-seeded Indiana. The Hoosiers have yet to lose a game in this tournament. Both games will air on BTN TV and BTN2Go.

Indiana earns No. 1 seed in Big Ten baseball tourney

Fresh off its first outright Big Ten title since 1932, Indiana will be the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten baseball tournament Wednesday-Saturday (Sunday, if necessary) at Target Field. The Hoosiers, along with Ohio State, earned a first-round bye in the six-team, double-elimination tourney that opens at 1:05 p.m. ET Wednesday. All 10 games will air live on BTN/BTN2Go.

Big Ten releases Baseball All-Tournament Team

Following the completion of the 2012 Big Ten Baseball Tournament on Saturday night, the Big Ten office released the all-tournament team. Purdue won the school’s first Big Ten tourney, thanks to an exciting 6-5 victory over heated rival Indiana, and it had five players earn honors, headlined by Most Outstanding Player Kevin Plawecki. Purdue wins school's first Big Ten tourney

Andrew Dixon scored the tie-breaking run on a wild play in the ninth inning and Nick Wittgren closed the game out with a 1-2-3 bottom of the frame, as No. 15 Purdue baseball won its first Big Ten Tournament title with a 6-5 win against Indiana on Saturday evening at Huntington Park. With the win, the Boilermakers earned the Big Ten’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Purdue, which also won the Big Ten regular-season title, went 3-0 en route to claiming the tournament crown. Two of the wins came against Indiana, which it beat 3-0 on Friday night.
