They say that it doesn’t matter what someone is born, but, instead, what they grow to be. In eight short years of life, Lacey Holsworth, whose battle with cancer and relationship with Michigan State’s basketball program became known nationwide, grew to be an inspiration to anyone who knew her story. Lacey, or Princess Lacey as so many knew her as, passed away late Tuesday night. The Michigan State family and the Big Ten basketball community are mourning the loss of Adreian Payne superfan Lacey Holsworth. Holsworth, the adorable 8-year-old who suffered from neuroblastoma, died late Tuesday night. Read more here. Lacey Holsworth, the 8-year-old who befriended Michigan State superstar Adreian Payne, died late Tuesday night. Her parents confirmed the news Wednesday morning with a photo posted to Instagram that read: “Princess Lacey has achieved the ultimate victory. She now dances among angels…. The world is a better place because you were in it. Our hearts are broken. We love you Doll. Wisconsin’s season came to a close after a heartbreaking 74-73 loss to Kentucky in Saturday’s national semifinal matchup. The Badgers were the last team standing from the Big Ten, capping what was a memorable 2013-14 season for the conference. As a whole, Big Ten teams finished the NCAA Tournament with a combined record of 10-6. In those 16 games, there were plenty of standout individual performances. Adreian Payne puts on a show in college dunk contest

Michigan State senior Adreian Payne had an impressive showing in Thursday night’s State Farm College Slam Dunk Contest. The Spartans’ big man didn’t win the event, but he left quite an impression with his first dunk of the evening. Check out this video of Payne’s monster first-round dunk, followed by an outstanding choreographed bowling celebration. What’s better, the dunk or the celebration? Hello, Sweet 16! The first three rounds of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament are in the books. Three Big Ten teams remain in the field as Michigan, Michigan State and Wisconsin will attempt to stamp their ticket to the Final Four in Arlington, Texas. Through three rounds of play, we have seen plenty of upsets, as well as outstanding individual and team performances. I’ve watched as many games I could, so here is a breakdown of my NCAA Tournament all-region teams, leading up to this week’s college hoops madness.
