What a difference a season makes. This time last year it all seemed so clear – Michigan and Indiana were to battle it out for Big Ten honors. The Wolverines looked fresh from a memorable journey to the College Cup, where they lost out to eventual winners Akron in the final four. The Hoosiers had that calm, composed, yet confident feel to their program preseason.
Tiffany Cameron’s goal 24 seconds into overtime gave the Ohio State women’s soccer team a 1-0 victory over No. 13 Missouri Thursday evening at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The Iowa women’s soccer team knocked off Valparaiso, 3-1, Sunday afternoon to remain the Big Ten’s lone undefeated team and run its nonconference winning streak to 15 matches, dating back to last season. Best of all, Iowa (6-0-0) suffered no setback playing just two days after taking down heated rival Iowa State on the road. Melanie Pickert, Cloe Lacasse and Dana Dalrymple scored Iowa’s goals. Several Big Ten teams took to the volleyball court and soccer pitch on Friday night. Penn State volleyball came out with a five-set win over Standford, while the Purdue women’s soccer team scored a 2-0 win over Tennessee-Martin.
