Michigan State Takes Down Hoosiers

Michigan State women’s volleyball team earns their 6th win of the Big Ten Conference season on Wednesday night against Indiana Hoosiers, 3-1. The Spartans came out firing on all cylinders, taking the first set 25-19. The Big Ten leaders in hitting percentage, Michigan State hit .387 in the first set, led by Jenilee Rathje and Alexis Mathews who combined for 11 kills on 13 swings. Indiana (8-15, 0-11) fell in four sets to Michigan State (17-6, 6-5) in five sets (19-25, 25-21, 15-25, 22-25). Watch the highlights of the game now. Weekend Olympic Sports Roundup

The weekend saw several of the conference’s soccer, field hockey and volleyball teams in action. The No. 4 Nebraska volleyball team (17-1, 10-0) made history Saturday night, overcoming No. 1 Illinois in a 3-1 (24-26, 25-18, 25-19, 25-11) victory. Wisconsin Trips Up Indiana

Indiana Volleyball (8-14, 0-10) fell in four sets to Wisconsin (13-9, 5-5) in five sets (25-20, 18-25, 18-25, 19-25). IU got 16 kills from Ivie Obiemeand five service aces from Caitlin Cox. No. 1 Illinois Holds Off Michigan

No. 1 Illinois continued its winning ways on Wednesday, defeating No. 20 Michigan 3-1 (25-14, 25-19, 21-25, 25-20) at Huff Hall. The Illini out-blocked the Wolverines 17-3, led by freshman Liz McMahon with 11 block assists. The Illini are now 18-0 overall and 7-0 in the Big Ten, while the Wolverines fall to 14-5 overall and 2-5 in the Big Ten. Illinois’ Michelle Bartsch registered 20 kills.
