Six Big Ten teams advance in volleyball

Six Big Ten teams advanced to the round of 16 in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament this weekend. Penn State, Nebraska, Minnesota, Purdue, Michigan and Michigan State moved on. All teams play Friday. Top-seeded Penn State plays Kentucky and Nebraska faces Washington. Four Big Ten teams will face familiar opponents as Purdue plays Minnesota and Michigan plays Michigan State. Seven Big Ten volleyball teams make NCAA field

The Big Ten will be well-represented at the 2012 NCAA Volleyball Championship, as seven conference teams were selected to the tournament’s field of 64. The seven squads is tied for first among all conferences and marks the third time in the last four years that the Big Ten has sent seven or more teams to the national tournament.
