Host Nebraska won the 2016 Big Ten Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships, while Michigan and Minnesota shared the 2016 Big Ten Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday.
The Michigan women’s track & field team won the 2016 Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The Wolverines posted four individual titles and claimed one relay to secure Michigan’s ninth Big Ten Championship and first since 2006. Michigan tallied 109 team points, while Purdue was second with 102 points. Penn State was third with 96.5 points, while Minnesota finished fourth with 89 and Iowa was fifth with 50 points. BTN will televise seven winter Big Ten Championships, including wrestling, men’s and women’s swimming & diving, men’s and women’s indoor track & field and men’s and women’s gymnastics and the entire Big Ten Hockey Tournament in 2016. Wisconsin will be the next Big Ten school to make a major apparel move. The University of Wisconsin-Madison announced a long-term partnership with Under Armour during a press conference on Friday afternoon. Wisconsin Athletic Director Barry Alvarez and Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank announced a new 10-year partnership, which is set to begin July 1, 2016. Like another famous New Jersey native, Rutgers alumna Ashley Higginson was born to run. The Illinois and Penn State men’s track and field teams paced the Big Ten at the NCAA Championships in Eugen, Oregon.
