Reigning NCAA champ IU nips MSU for B1G tourney title

The fifth-seeded Indiana men’s soccer team won its 12th Big Ten Tournament Championship in school history after defeating Michigan State, 1-0, in Sunday’s title game at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Earning the Big Ten’s automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament, the Hoosiers will look to defend their 2012 NCAA championship. Jamie Vollmer scored the game’s lone goal in the 66th minute, while goalkeeper Colin Webb made six saves to secure the shutout. Big Ten men's soccer tourney title game start time moved

Due to the possibility of inclement weather, the championship game of the Big Ten Men’s Soccer Tournament in Columbus, Ohio, has been moved to 11 a.m. ET on Sunday. BTN will stream the game live on BTN2Go, and will air the match via tape delay at approximately 2 p.m. ET. Third-seeded Michigan State and fifth-seeded Indiana will play for the Big Ten Tournament title at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, with the winner earning a berth in the NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship. Michigan State, Indiana advance to B1G title match

Two Big Ten men’s soccer teams advanced to Sunday’s championship match with semifinal wins at host site Ohio State on Friday. In the first semifinal, Indiana beat Penn State 1-0 in an overtime shootout. The Hoosiers shot a perfect 5-of-5 in the shootout. In the second semifinal, Michigan State junior Fatai Alashe scored the game’s lone goal as the Spartans defeated Northwestern, 1-0. PSU defends B1G title, earns tourney No. 1 seed

After winning its second consecutive title, Penn State earned the No. 1 seed and first-round bye of the 2013 Big Ten Men’s Soccer Tournament. The tournament will be hosted by Ohio State University, with the opening-round matchups beginning Wednesday, Nov. 13. Wisconsin earned the No. 2 seed after concluding the regular season with a 4-2-0 conference record. The Badgers will face No. 7 Northwestern in Wednesday’s final game at 7 p.m. ET.
