For the first time since 1998, the Penn State field hockey team is Big Ten tournament champions. The Nittany Lions (16-5, 4-2) defeated Michigan, 3-2, in exciting fashion Sunday on their home field en route to claiming their fifth all-time tourney crown, the last also coming against Michigan. On Tuesday morning’s Big Ten Women’s Sport Report, Lisa Byington, Kara Lentz and Megan Bower previewed the upcoming soccer and field hockey Big Ten Championships, discussed No. 8 Penn State dropping No. 1 Nebraska in volleyball and showed a feature on the Nebraska women’s soccer team’s trip to Europe.

Senior keeper Jeremy Clark tallied his fourth shutout of the year and red-shirt freshman Ryan Keener headed in the game’s only goal as Michigan State (6-7-4, 2-2-2) took back the Big Bear Trophy with a 1-0 victory over rival Michigan. No. 20 Northwestern got off to another fast start on Friday at Lakeside Field as redshirt freshman Kelsey Thompson scored her first career goal, giving the ‘Cats the early 1-0 lead over the Pacific Tigers just 10 minutes in.
