Purdue holds off Badgers’ challenge

KK Houser scored 15 points and Purdue defeated Wisconsin 74-62 on Friday in the Big Ten tournament quarterfinals. Drey Mingo added 13 points and Sam Ostarello had nine points and 11 rebounds for the third-seeded Boilermakers (22-8), who will play No. 21 Nebraska in Saturday’s first semifinal. Nebraska beat Iowa 76-61 in the first quarterfinal game on Friday.

Wisconsin rallies to upset Illinois

Morgan Paige scored 18 points, including two free throws with 3 seconds remaining, and 11th-seeded Wisconsin beat Illinois 58-57 in the first round of the Big Ten tournament on Thursday. Illinois, which trailed 54-44 with 6 minutes left, took a 57-54 lead on Amber Moore’s 3-pointer with 42 seconds left. Tessa Cichy made two free throws to get Wisconsin within a point.

Big Ten Women’s Tourney tips off on BTN/BTN2Go

All 12 Big Ten women’s basketball teams head to Hoffman Estates, Ill., and the Sears Centre Arena for the annual Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament with champion scoring the conference’s automatic berth into the NCAA Championship. The first 10 games of the tournament will be televised by BTN & BTN2Go.

Women’s hoops roundup: Michigan upsets No. 13 Purdue

Sunday’s slate of  five Big Ten women’s games was highlighted by Michigan’s 67-56 upset victory at No. 13 Purdue. Kate Thompson hit six 3-pointers and scored 22 points to help lead the Wolverines to the big road upset. Another ranked team was in action, as No. 8 Penn State topped Michigan State, 71-56.
