The Big Ten hockey season is underway, which means our BTN Hockey Report is back for the 2015-16 campaign. BTN studio host Rick Pizzo, who played hockey at Hamilton College, will anchor our Big Ten hockey coverage this season. The BTN Hockey Report will include weekend highlights, standouts and analysis surrounding all six Big Ten hockey programs. Wisconsin will be the next Big Ten school to make a major apparel move. The University of Wisconsin-Madison announced a long-term partnership with Under Armour during a press conference on Friday afternoon. Wisconsin Athletic Director Barry Alvarez and Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank announced a new 10-year partnership, which is set to begin July 1, 2016. The Big Ten announced on Wednesday the 28 honorees named Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners for the 2014-15 academic year. These standouts were chosen from a group of more than 350 students honored throughout the academic year who had displayed positive sportsmanship. One member of each varsity sports team on every campus was chosen by his or her institution as a Sportsmanship Award honoree, and two Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners were then selected from each institution. The Big Ten office announced the dates and opponents for the 2015-16 hockey season Wednesday, featuring 20-game schedules for each of the six conference programs. The schedule concludes with the 2016 Big Ten Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament, to be held March 17-19 at Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minn. It’s a great time to be a college hockey fan in the state of Minnesota. The top-seeded Minnesota women’s hockey team advanced to its fourth-straight NCAA championship game with a 3-1 win over Wisconsin on Friday night at Ridder Arena. Juniors Hannah Brandt and Maryanne Menefee recorded three points each to lead the Gophers (33-3-4). Junior goalie Amanda Leveille had 34 saves in the win.
