Considering three of the previous four games in the inaugural Big Ten hockey tournament went to overtime, it was only fitting that the championship game did the same. This time, it was Mark Zengerle providing the heroics with the overtime game-winner to lift Wisconsin past Ohio State and to the Big Ten tourney title.
Wisconsin senior Mark Zengerle scored the game-winner in overtime to lift the Badgers to a 5-4 win over Ohio State on Saturday night in the inaugural Big Ten Men’s Hockey Tournament Championship. Tyler Barnes, Jefferson Dahl, Morgan Zulinick and Jake McCabe all had goals for Wisconsin, while junior goalie Joel Rumpel added 28 saves in the victory.
The second day of the Big Ten Men’s Hockey Tournament is officially in the books. No. 2 Wisconsin opened the day with an impressive 2-1 win over No. 6 Penn State.
