BTN2Go, BTN and NET plan to offer live coverage of the five Big Ten teams that are hosting NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament action this weekend.

(BigTen,org) The Big Ten will be well-represented at the 2011 NCAA Volleyball Championship, as eight conference teams have been selected to the tournament’s field of 64 for the second consecutive season. The eight chosen squads ties a conference record and gives the Big Ten the most tournament teams of any conference in the country. See the official NCAA.com bracket.

The University of Iowa volleyball team dropped a five-set decision to 10th-ranked Purdue Thursday night inside Halloway Gym (22-25, 22-25, 25-15, 25-15, 15-6). Iowa threatened to sweep the Boilermakers, grabbing leads of 8-5 and 14-13 in the third frame, but Purdue ran away from a 15-15 tie with 10 straight points to win set three, 25-15. The Boilermakers then built an early 10-3 advantage in the fourth set and eventually held on for another 25-15 decision to force a decisive set five. Purdue women’s volleyball team earns their 6th win of the season leading them to tie for 3rd place in the Big Ten Conference on Wednesday night against Illinois, 3-1 in four sets (25-21, 22-25, 24-26, 21-25). Star player, Ariel Turner helped lead the Boilermakers to another victory with 21 kills, 19 digs and 8 blocks. Watch the highlights of the game now.

The weekend saw several of the conference’s soccer, field hockey and volleyball teams in action. The No. 4 Nebraska volleyball team (17-1, 10-0) made history Saturday night, overcoming No. 1 Illinois in a 3-1 (24-26, 25-18, 25-19, 25-11) victory. Wednesday was a busy night for Big Ten volleyball. Several of the conference’s top teams were in action including top-ranked Illinois who faced Northwestern.
