BTN Tour preview: What I'm looking for along the way

It’s about time for me to kiss my son, Calvin; daughter, Veronica; and wife, Robin, goodbye. I also need to rub my dog Gizmo’s ample belly one last time before I finish packing my bags. It’s time for the BTN Bus Tour, 2013. And, like all busses, the cool kids sit in back. That’s where you’ll find Dave Revsine, Gerry DiNardo and Howard Griffith. Me? I’ll be up front, dreaming of back-of-the-bus glory, calling coaches and media on my iPhone and researching teams on my company-issued HP EliteBook laptop. But I do venture to the rear of the bus on

Twitter: 2013 Big Ten football bold predictions

It’s always fun to offer bold predictions before football season kicks off. In the end, more times than not, the practice makes you look silly. Like, two years ago when I pegged Illinois’ Nathan Scheelhaase to be in the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year race. Whatever, it’s still entertaining. That being the case, I asked my Twitter followers for their 2013 bold predictions, and there were some bold ones. First impression: Either a lot of Indiana fans replied to this tweet, or people really like the Hoosiers as a surprise, improved team. THE BOLDEST @BTNBrentYarina @BigTenNetwork OSU goes

Video: 'Ahhhhh!' Watch this Ryan Kerrigan ad

Ever wonder what Purdue product Ryan Kerrigan is doing when he isn’t terrorizing NFL quarterbacks? We now know the answer–at least for part of his free time. The Washington Redskins linebacker dresses up as the sun, dances around, peers into random homes, and yells “Ahhhhhhhh!” Don’t worry, it’s all for a commercial. A terrifically hilarious commercial, that is. Kerrigan is an absolute riot in the above ad for Thompson Creek Window Company. The former Purdue defensive end also did this commercial for the company last year. Prediction: Kerrigan is about to have a lot of people yelling “Ahhhhh!” when they

Mailbag: Huskers' win total & more targeting talk

The season is about a month away. That’s music to my ears. And from the volume of my mail, I can tell you all are getting excited, too. Let me reach into my mailbag and answer some of your questions. Keep the cards and letters coming. I love hearing from you all. I like your best-case record scenario for Nebraska, except the Michigan loss. I believe your worst-case scenario should be a little worse than stated. I would have the Huskers also losing to Michigan State and Penn State in my worst-case scenario. This would make them 7-5. Not very
