#BTNStandout: Purdue's Kyle Johnson makes great diving catch

Purdue’s Kyle Johnson had himself a day on Thursday. The Boilermakers’ junior center fielder had two hits, one of which was a two-run single in a 8-2 win over Penn State. However, it was his highlight-reel catch in the top of the fourth inning that really caught everyone’s attention. With Purdue holding onto a 3-0 lead, Johnson made an incredible diving catch, ranging to his right and robbing Penn State’s Tyler Kendall of an extra-base hit. Check out the video of Johnson’s great catch. This is what we call a true #BTNStandout!

#BTNStandout: Purdue's Alec Olund lays out for highlight grab

This shouldn’t be the last time you see Alec Olund’s diving catch from Saturday afternoon. [ MORE: Check out other #BTNStandout plays ] Olund robbed Michigan State of a extra bases and a likely insurance run with a highlight-reel diving grab on the warning track, right before the hill in front of the fence, in right-center field. With the Boilermakers trailing 9-7 in the bottom of sixth, Olund sprinted to his left and laid out to end the inning. Best of all: The dust. Look at the cloud of dust Olund found himself in after making the grab. Good stuff.

#BTNStandout: Purdue 2B Cody Strong makes great barehanded play

Cody Strong is becoming a #BTNStandout regular. Earlier this week, the Purdue second baseman went horizontal for this catch in short right field. [ MORE: Check out other #BTNStandout plays ] In Friday’s doubleheader loss to Maryland, Strong was at it again, this time making a great barehanded play on a dribbler up the middle. The ball had a lot of English on it, but Strong was able to pick it up cleanly and throw across his body, despite all of his momentum heading toward the third base dugout. #BTNStandout: Purdue's Cody Strong makes outstanding diving catch

Big Ten fans have seen a number of outstanding plays on the diamond this season. On Wednesday, it was Cody Strong’s turn to join the fun. [ MORE: Check out other #BTNStandout plays ] With Purdue holding onto a 6-0 lead and one out in the ninth inning, Strong tracked down a fly ball to shallow right field and made an outstanding over-the-shoulder catch to help preserve the shutout. BTN announces Big Ten baseball tourney coverage

CHICAGO – BTN’s coverage of the Big Ten Baseball Tournament begins at 6 PM ET on Wednesday with No. 1 Indiana vs. No. 8 Iowa from TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb., home of the College World Series. The network will also carry games 6, 7 and 8 on Thursday, each game Friday and Saturday and the Big Ten Baseball Tournament Championship Game, which will air at 2 PM ET on Sunday. View the 2014 All-Big Ten baseball teams & award winners

The Big Ten on Tuesday announced the 2014 baseball All-Big Ten Teams and individual award winners, as voted by the conference’s coaches. Indiana’s Sam Travis was the unanimous choice for Player of the Year, teammate Joey DeNato garnered Pitcher of the Year accolades and Tracy Smith was tabbed Coach of the Year, while Ohio State’s Tanner Tully took home Freshman of the Year honors.
