Lucas leads Lady Lions past LSU

(AP) Maggie Lucas scored 30 points, three short of a career high, and fourth-seeded Penn State moved on to the third round of the women’s NCAA tournament with a 90-80 victory over No. 5 seed LSU on Tuesday night. She also hit all 11 of her free throws, including eight in the final 1:10 of the game to ensure there would be no crowd-pleasing comeback for LSU, which had hoped to get a boost from playing a “neutral-site” game on its home

Record 7 Big Ten Teams Make NCAA women's tourney

  A Big Ten-record seven teams were selected to the 2012 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship field of 64, it was announced on Monday night. Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue will represent the conference in the tournament, marking the first time seven Big Ten teams have advanced to the tourney, one more than the previous record of six (1996, 2002, 2003, 2004). Purdue drops Penn State in final seconds

Brittany Rayburn hit the game-winning shot in the final seconds to lift No. 25 Purdue past No. 12 Penn State, 68-66, in the semifinals of the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament on Saturday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Boilermakers will play Nebraska, which beat three-time reigning champ Ohio State (recap), in the title game at 4 p.m. ET Sunday. The 2011-12 All-Big Ten Women’s Basketball Teams were announced live on BTN on Monday night. Ohio State’s Samantha Prahalis, Minnesota’s Rachel Banham and Penn State’s Coquese Washington were named player of the year, freshman of the year and coach of the year, respectively, by both the coaches and media. Big Ten Women's Tournament bracket released

The Big Ten Conference announced the bracket on Sunday for the 2012 Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament, with conference champion Penn State earning the No. 1 seed and one of four first-round byes. The tournament is set for Thursday-Sunday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, previously known as Conseco Fieldhouse. BTN and BTN2Go will air the tournament’s first 10 games, starting with No. 7 Michigan-No. 10 Illinois at 11:30 a.m. ET Thursday. The championship game will be played at 4 p.m. ET Sunday.
