(AP) Bria Hartley and Connecticut ran right past Penn State’s high-powered offense and into another regional final. Hartley scored 20 points and Kelly Faris added 15 to help No. 1 seed UConn beat fourth-seeded Penn State 77-59 on Sunday in the Kingston Regional semifinals.
(AP) Maggie Lucas scored 30 points, three short of a career high, and fourth-seeded Penn State moved on to the third round of the women’s NCAA tournament with a 90-80 victory over No. 5 seed LSU on Tuesday night.

A Big Ten-record seven teams were selected to the 2012 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship field of 64, it was announced on Monday night. Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue will represent the conference in the tournament, marking the first time seven Big Ten teams have advanced to the tourney, one more than the previous record of six (1996, 2002, 2003, 2004). Brittany Rayburn hit the game-winning shot in the final seconds to lift No. 25 Purdue past No. 12 Penn State, 68-66, in the semifinals of the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament on Saturday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Boilermakers will play Nebraska, which beat three-time reigning champ Ohio State (recap), in the title game at 4 p.m. ET Sunday.
