The 2013 WNBA Draft was held Monday night in Bristol, Conn., and a pair of Big Ten stars were selected in the first round. Four Big Ten women’s basketball teams hit the floor tonight in the 2013 NCAA Women’s Baseketball Tournament as Iowa, Michigan, Penn State and Purdue look to advance. Nebraska is still in contention after beating Texas A&M on Monday night.

Jasmine Thomas scored 14 of her 19 points in the second half and Michigan State used its stout defense to upset No. 8 Penn State 54-46 in the Big Ten tournament semifinals. Becca Mills added 16 points for the Spartans (24-7), who held Penn State to 22 percent shooting and enjoyed a 52-38 rebounding edge.

Alex Bentley scored 20 points, Maggie Lucas added 18, and No. 8 Penn State beat Ohio State 76-66 Friday in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten tournament. The top-seeded Lady Lions (25-4) had their difficulties in this one after earning a first-round bye and their second straight regular-season title with a 14-2 conference record. But they went on a big run early in the second half to break a tie and earn a spot in Saturday’s semifinals against the Michigan-Michigan State winner.

All 12 Big Ten women’s basketball teams head to Hoffman Estates, Ill., and the Sears Centre Arena for the annual Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament with champion scoring the conference’s automatic berth into the NCAA Championship. The first 10 games of the tournament will be televised by BTN & BTN2Go.
