Sam Ficken hit a 37-yard field goal in overtime, and Wisconsin’s Kyle French attempt from 45 yards went wide left to seal Penn State’s 24-21 win Saturday in an emotional season finale in Happy Valley. The Nittany Lions (8-4, 6-2 Big Ten) could have ended it for good a play earlier, but linebacker Glenn Carson dropped a potential interception.
There’s no doubt who Penn State’s leader is. And we’ll see proof of it in Saturday afternoon’s season finale against Wisconsin at Beaver Stadium. The Nittany Lions are wearing No. 42 on the left side of their helmets in honor of injured senior Michael Mauti.

Lindsey Moore scored 23 points, Jordan Hooper added 19 and No. 23 Nebraska used a late run to rally for a 74-65 victory over USC on Friday afternoon. Moore made just five field goals but was 13 of 15 from the line. Emily Cady chipped in 14 points for the Cornhuskers (5-1), who trailed 63-57 with 3:49 to play.
Penn State took home a victory, 60-57 over Bucknell on Friday, despite being without the services of Tim Frazier, who is averaging 16.3 points per game this season. Bucknell (5-1) struggled shooting the ball in the game.
