The Nittany Lions could only hear about how they were playing hard every game for so long. Those “moral victories” that came in close losing efforts meant nothing if they didn’t get a win. On Wednesday night, Penn State, which entered the game 0-14 in the Big Ten, finally had reason to celebrate.

Jermaine Marshall scored 25 points and Penn State upset No. 4 Michigan 84-78 on Wednesday night for its first Big Ten win of the season. The Nittany Lions (9-18, 1-14) had lost 18 straight regular-season conference games dating to last season, but they roared back from a 15-point deficit with 10:39 left behind the energetic play of Marshall.

Indiana suffered another road loss to a previously scuffling squad, this time falling at Minnesota by four points. Much has been said about Cody Zeller’s lack of offensive production on this night (nine points, four turnovers, five fouls), but the Hoosiers scored quite well with their big man scuffling.
