Northwestern used two second-half goals to complete the Big Ten sweep Sunday, defeating Penn State 2-1 in the finals of the 2011 Big Ten Tournament. Northwestern advanced to the Big Ten Conference Men’s Soccer Championship by defeating Indiana 1-1 (3-2 on penalty kicks) on Friday at Michigan. Wisconsin could come back and fell 1-0 to Penn State in the second semifinal. The championship match will be played Sunday at noon ET and the game will air live on the Big Ten Network. The ninth-ranked Indiana men’s soccer team sent seniors Nick Blevins, Chris Estridge, Tyler McCarroll, Tommy Meyer and Alec Purdie out in style with a 1-0 victory over Ohio State (10-6-1, 4-2 B1G) Saturday afternoon on Jerry Yeagley Field at Armstrong Stadium. Senior keeper Jeremy Clark tallied his fourth shutout of the year and red-shirt freshman Ryan Keener headed in the game’s only goal as Michigan State (6-7-4, 2-2-2) took back the Big Bear Trophy with a 1-0 victory over rival Michigan.
