Lefties, today is your big day! Aug. 13, 2014 marks the 22nd annual International Left-Handers Day. In honor of the special day, I created a list of some of my favorite left-handed Big Ten athletes.
CHICAGO – BTN’s coverage of the Big Ten Baseball Tournament begins at 6 PM ET on Wednesday with No. 1 Indiana vs. No. 8 Iowa from TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb., home of the College World Series. The network will also carry games 6, 7 and 8 on Thursday, each game Friday and Saturday and the Big Ten Baseball Tournament Championship Game, which will air at 2 PM ET on Sunday.

The Big Ten on Tuesday announced the 2014 baseball All-Big Ten Teams and individual award winners, as voted by the conference’s coaches. Indiana’s Sam Travis was the unanimous choice for Player of the Year, teammate Joey DeNato garnered Pitcher of the Year accolades and Tracy Smith was tabbed Coach of the Year, while Ohio State’s Tanner Tully took home Freshman of the Year honors.

It is no secret that turning a triple play is extremely rare. Turning two triple plays in a single game is pretty much unheard of. However, Penn State’s baseball team did just that in a 4-2 loss to Michigan State on Friday, becoming just the second team to accomplish the feat in NCAA Division I history.
