(AP) Bring on `Bama. Florida State, too. Ohio State wide receiver Evan Spencer made it clear Monday that he believes the Buckeyes are better than No. 3. Spencer had a chance to watch two-time defending national champion Alabama and second-ranked Florida State last weekend while the Buckeyes had an open date.

With two of my top three teams off this Saturday in No. 1 Ohio State and No. 3 Michigan State, the top of my power rankings, presented by ArcelorMittal, didn’t change much. In fact, the rankings only got tweaked, as no big upsets took place. But with MSU playing at Nebraska next week, big changes could be coming.

Sam Thompson is a highlight waiting to happen, and the exciting and athletic Ohio State junior wasted no time adding to his impressive individual reel in Saturday’s season opener. Ohio State’s Shannon Scott entered his junior season with a grand total of 12 3-pointers. In Saturday’s season opener vs. Morgan State, Scott hit a trio of early treys in succession, the first coming at the 19:03 mark and the final at 17:55. That’s three 3s in 1:08 of game time. Not bad for a guy who’s known for his defense.
