Big Ten Softball All-Conference Teams and Individual Award Winners

The Big Ten Conference announced the 2015 All-Conference Teams and individual award winners on Wednesday. Minnesota’s Sara Groenewegen captured Player of the Year honors, Michigan’s Megan Betsa was named the Pitcher of the Year and Northwestern’s Sabrina Rabin was tabbed Freshman of the Year. Michigan’s Carol Hutchins was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year. During her sophomore campaign, Groenewegen led the Gophers with a .435 batting average, six home runs and a .524 on-base percentage in Big Ten play, while also recording a 12-2 record with 155 strikeouts and four shutouts. Big Ten Softball tourney: Gophers take home title

Sam Macken had the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the seventh to lead No. 3 Minnesota to a 3-2 victory over No. 1 Michigan in the Big Ten Softball Tournament championship game. The victory marked the second Big Ten softball title in program history, and the first since 1999. Minnesota kicked off the day with a 9-0 shutout win over Ohio State in a tournament semifinal matchup. Big Ten hands out 2014 All-Big Ten Softball honors

The Big Ten announced the 2014 All-Conference Teams and individual award winners on Wednesday. 2014 Big Ten softball tournament schedule

The Big Ten conference announced the 2014 Big Ten Softball Tournament bracket on Sunday, with Michigan earning the No. 1 seed after clinching a share of its 18th conference championship. Nebraska, which secured the No. 2 seed in the tournament, also earned a share of its first Big Ten title after completing a three-game sweep of Indiana on Sunday. The tournament will begin on Thursday with the title contest slated for Saturday night at Sharon J. Drysdale Field in Evanston, Ill. BTN to air record number of baseball, softball games

CHICAGO – BTN will offer its most extensive baseball and softball coverage ever, with over 240 events airing on BTN, BTN2Go and the Big Ten Digital Network (BTDN) for the 2014 season. BTN’s television coverage of Big Ten baseball begins with the third game of a three-game series between Indiana and Michigan. Coverage begins at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday from Bloomington. Last season, Indiana won both the Big Ten Championship and Tournament, and advanced to the College World Series, becoming the first Big Ten squad to reach Omaha since Michigan in 1984. Video: Watch Cammi Prantl's diving catch

Cammi Prantl had one of those catches players practice and hope to make when the lights are on in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader vs. Michigan State. With one out in the sixth inning of a 1-1 game, McKinzie Freimuth smacked a tailing liner down the left-field line. Innocent foul ball, right? Nope, Prantl, who had Freimuth positioned perfectly, read the ball off the bat and dove to make a terrific diving grab. Watch the play here.
