Our first Super Wednesday of the Big Ten men’s basketball season was a success. Maryland cruised to an impressive 88-63 win over Rutgers in the first game of the evening. Ohio State followed that with a 65-56 victory over Northwestern. The Buckeyes have beaten the Wildcats in 28 of the last 29 meetings between the two teams. With the return of BTN’s Super Wednesday weekly men’s basketball doubleheader, we’re rolling out Court Pass on BTN2Go once again. This is where we turn the BTN TV cameras on at each Big Ten basketball venue 30 minutes before each Wednesday game on BTN and live stream the video via BTN2Go.com and the BTN2Go app. There are a few nifty parts to Court Pass on BTN2Go, including the fact that you can see both teams warm up, catch the atmosphere at the arena as fans get ready, and often hear the bands play before the games tip off. Ohio State sophomore sensation Kelsey Mitchell has just earned her second national and Big Ten Player of the Week awards of the season. It’s an acknowledgement she didn’t even realize she’d received when I spoke with her. If I had to summarize Kelsey in one word, it would be humble. She is a person who cares greatly about her family and friends, is willing to sacrifice for the betterment of her team, and has one pretty incredible role model to emulate. Mitchell partially credits the early success of her team to its strong non-conference schedule, one in which she learned
The NFL playoffs are set, and former Big Ten standouts litter the 12 teams’ active rosters. A total of 80 players find themselves on active rosters, paced by Ohio State (14), and every Big Ten team has at least one representative. To be clear, the number does not include players currently on injured reserve or Maryland, Nebraska and Rutgers players who played before the schools entered the Big Ten. See the team-by-team breakdown below. ILLINOIS (4) Jeff Allen, OL, Kansas City Chiefs Whitney Mercilus, DE, Houston Texans Pierre Thomas, RB, Washington Redskins Tavon Wilson, DB, New England Patriots INDIANA (1)

For the second consecutive week, Maryland sits atop my Big Ten Power Rankings, presented by ArcelorMittal. The Terrapins edged Penn State in their Big Ten opener and cruised to victory at Northwestern to improve to 13-1.
With the stat-stuffing games that dominate the nonconference season now history, it's a lot easier to assemble a weekly Big Ten Player Rankings. The first week of conference play featured no shortage of impressive individual performances.
On Monday, the 14 Big Ten coaches held a teleconference with reporters from around the country. We posted the audio for each coach on the call here, so jump in and take a listen.
When we say the students, faculty and staff, and alumni of the universities of the Big Ten Conference “live big,” we aren’t overstating our case. Last year, we reported stories that took our readers from exotic locales like Sri Lanka and Uganda to galaxies far, far away. Whether it’s on-campus or in outer space, the Big Ten community is innovating, inspiring and improving. We told more than 200 of those stories in 2015. We loved them all, but there were a few that stood out to us as especially interesting and high-impact. Here are some of our favorites from the universities
The lid has been taken off Big Ten play, and five schools are off to 2-0 starts. Two of them aren’t a shock, as Maryland and Indiana are out of the gates quickly. But it’s a surprise to see Michigan, Ohio State and Iowa also 2-0 in Big Ten action.
