Yahoo! Best-case, worst-case for top Big Ten hoops teams

How does three Big Ten teams in the top 10 sound? That’s what Yahoo! Sports’ Jeff Eisenberg has in his Preseason top 25 best-case and worst-case scenarios. The three teams, of course, are Michigan State (No. 4), Michigan (No. 7) and Ohio State (No. 8). Eisenberg also lists Wisconsin (No. 19), but no Indiana or Iowa. The four ranked Big Ten teams are fewer than other experts, who either include the aforementioned Hoosiers or Hawkeyes, or both. Still, three teams in the top 10 – top 8, to be precise – is nothing to ignore. [ MORE: Yahoo.com: Preseason top

The group then compiled the results and weighted each category, giving the school’s overall score on a scale of 100. Five Big Ten programs appear on the list, headlined by Michigan State, which comes in at No.

Photo: LeBron James gets locker at Ohio State

Walk into the new Ohio State basketball facility, and you’ll think NBA superstar LeBron James has joined the Buckeyes. He hasn’t, and he won’t be involved with the team in any capacity. But the program did give him a locker, complete with a nameplate, in its new $19-million facility. For what? It makes more sense than you might think. You see, James’ Nike line outfits the Buckeyes, and it has for the last handful of years. According to Doug Lesmerises, the Buckeyes will display shoes, jerseys and warmups in the King’s locker when recruits visit campus. Really, it’s all about

Did You See This? Matta gets 'season's supply' of gum

What does one give Thad Matta as a birthday present? Gum, if you’re looking for a cheap gift that you know he’ll love and use. The Buckeye Nuthouse, the team’s official student section, sent Matta a season’s supply of Juicy Fruit for his 46th birthday last week. The Buckeye Nuthouse call the packages of gum a “season’s supply,” but the way Matta chews it, who knows how long it will last. Then again, Matta is a resourceful guy. Remember in 2007, when the coach dropped his gum to the floor and put it right back in his mouth? Watch the
