Northwestern and Ohio State shared the Big Ten crown Sunday, both shooting a three-round score of 863 at the 2015 Big Ten Women’s Golf Championships. Minnesota claimed the Big Ten Championship in men’s golf on Sunday after shooting a four-round score of 1,186 at the 2014 Big Ten Men’s Golf Championships. The Golden Gophers were followed by second-place Illinois (1,190), third-place Iowa (1,194), fourth-place Northwestern (1,204) and fifth-place Purdue (1,205) at the par-72, 7,152-yard Pete Dye Course. Michigan State and Ohio State began Sunday tied atop the 2014 Big Ten Women’s Golf Championship standings, and that’s exactly how the finished the day. The Spartans and Buckeyes shared the crown in French Lick, Indiana, marking the former’s third title in the last four seasons. The two teams finish 31-over (895), 10 strokes ahead of Northwestern. In April 1966, When Nancy Nicklaus was 11 months old, she swallowed a piece of a crayon. Her parents noticed a series of choking incidents that would start, stop and start again. Jack and Barbara Nicklaus refused to take chances. They shuttled their middle child and only daughter to the Columbus Children’s Hospital, where doctors discovered the crayon piece lodged in her windpipe. Each team finished in the top eight of their respective regionals to move on to the championships.
