Weekend Olympic Sports Roundup

The weekend saw several of the conference’s soccer and field hockey teams in action. Senior keeper Jeremy Clark tallied his fourth shutout of the year and red-shirt freshman Ryan Keener headed in the game’s only goal as Michigan State (6-7-4, 2-2-2) took back the Big Bear Trophy with a 1-0 victory over rival Michigan. Moving to field hockey, Penn State (13-5, 4-2) earned a 4-1 victory over Michigan State on Sunday to close out the regular season and clinch a tie for second place in the Big Ten. The weekend saw several of the conference’s soccer and field hockey teams in action. Iowa battled Ohio State to a 3-0 win in field hockey on Saturday afternoon. Watch the highlights now, along with an interview with Iowa coach Tracey Griesbaum. Moving to soccer, the Illinois and Michigan State women’s teams settled the score in double overtime, with the Illini getting the 1-0 win. Ohio State, 3 Others, Land In NFHCA Poll

The Big Ten is no stranger to having itself all over the national field hockey poll. The 2011 season should be no exception — at least according to the NFHCA Preseason Poll. Four Big Ten teams land in the initial poll, led by No. 6 Ohio State.
