Today, Wildcats coach Pat Fitzgerald testified. The NLRB is in an information gathering stage, as it looks to see if the football players can make a cogent case. So far, that doesn’t seem to be happening.  But, CAPA lawyers for the players are trying.

Watch it in the video above. [ MORE: Nikola Cerina gets one-game suspension for throwing punch ] Here is the scuffle: VIDEO: There's a delay in the NU-OSU game as officials review the

Kain Colter testifies in bid to form college union

(AP) Northwestern quarterback Kain Colter testified Tuesday that he was essentially paid to play via his scholarship as the National Labor Relations Board opened a closely watched hearing on a bid to form what would be the first union for college athletes in U.S. history. From a witnesses stand in a federal court building, Colter characterized playing college football as a job and said schools make clear to incoming players that athletics are a higher priority than academics. Colter, a co-founder of the newly formed College Athletes Players Association, said players adhere to grueling schedules, putting in 40- to 50-hour

Merriman: My Mount Rushmore of B1G hoops players

Who would make your Mount Rushmore of Big Ten basketball players? That has been a common question asked after four-time NBA MVP LeBron James selected Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Oscar Robertson. The same question can be posed to Big Ten fans. With so many good options, it is tough to choose just four top players in Big Ten basketball history. With that said, we wanted to make it a little easier for you. In honor of Presidents Day, here is my team-by-team breakdown of who would make Mount Rushmore. Big Ten Mount Rushmore (All Time) Magic Johnson,

Big Ten Geeks: I can see for Miles

Indiana’s season reached a new low in Saturday’s drubbing at Purdue. The Boilermakers busted the game open after intermission, and the one thing that had been a relative constant for the Hoosiers–a solid defense–went by the wayside. To be fair, some of this was just Purdue having a fantastic afternoon from the perimeter (10-for-18 on threes), but Indiana didn’t offer much resistance either.
