Week 3 was all about the ACC, as the Big Ten played five games vs. the eastern league. Final score: ACC 3, Big Ten 2. Northwestern (at Duke) and Iowa (Pitt) were the only two Big Ten teams to win. Illinois (at North Carolina), Nebraska (at Miami) and Purdue (Virginia Tech) all lost.

After subpar performances throughout Weeks 1 and 2, the Big Ten had a solid Week 3 showing.
One week after beating Oregon, No. 4 Michigan State dropped Air Force, 35-21, to highlight the Big Ten’s early Week 3 action. No. 24 Northwestern also won at Duke, 19-10, to move to 3-0. Get caught up on all of Saturday’s early afternoon action below.

Not a lot of “wow” factor in Week 3, with Nebraska’s trip to Miami (Fla.) earning top billing. These programs battled for the national title three times, after the 1983, 1994 and 2001 seasons. Alas, neither program is of that ilk at the moment—no Tom Osborne, no Howard Schnellenberger, no Dennis Erickson … no legit national title dreams.
