Bo Ryan reacts to Northwestern's hot shooting night

What was Bo Ryan’s reaction to Northwestern draining 6-of-10 3-pointers in the second half of Wisconsin’s 65-56 loss Wednesday night at the Kohl Center? Stunned would suffice. Ryan simply couldn’t believe that the Big Ten’s worst 3-point shooting team got so hot from distance, and he was especially shocked that big man Alex Olah, who entered the night 2-of-13 from 3, hit a trey. Watch Ryan’s reaction in this post. Big Ten Geeks: Spartans Will

Michigan State pulled out an impressive overtime win at Iowa despite the continued absence of Adreian Payne and Branden Dawson. The gritty win was all about defense for the Spartans, as they held one of the nation’s top offenses to 1.01 points per trip at home. Iowa posted a lowly 40.6 effective field goal percentage, and it was entirely due to poor jump-shooting (data courtesy of Hoop-Math). IOWA % of Shots FG% At Rim 31.2 66.7 2pt Jumpers 43.8 23.8 3pt Shots 25.0 25.0 The Hawkeyes’ refusal to shoot the three can sometimes hold this offense back, and this was

Big Ten Geeks: Wolverines on Top

Saturday night brought a clash of the only two remaining conference unbeatens when Michigan traveled west to take on State in East Lansing. The Spartans were down their frontcourt, as Branden Dawson’s hand lost a bout with a table earlier in the week, and Adreian Payne was still a week or two away. But would it have mattered? I know that sounds ridiculous, considering Dawson and Payne are two of the best players in the conference. But Michigan diced up the Spartans’ defense in ways that I’m not sure Dawson or Payne could have helped with. Notably, the Wolverines scorched
