Northwestern and Purdue were named Co-Big Ten Women’s Golf Champions on Sunday at the Donald Ross Course at French Lick Resort. Illinois won the Big Ten Men’s Golf Championships on Sunday, shooting an 11-over 1,163 to clinch its fifth-straight and 12th overall conference title.
It was a good day Tuesday for Jack Perry and the Northwestern men’s golf team. Perry broke PGA Tour players’ David Lipsky and Luke Donald’s school record for lowest 54-hole tournament total, carding a 16-under 200 (67-67-66), and Northwestern cruised to the NU Spring Invitational title at The Glen Club. Five Big Ten men’s golf teams entered the weekend with NCAA Championships aspirations, but Illinois and Iowa were the only ones to advance in regional action. Illinois and Iowa are off to the Championships at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., while Indiana, Northwestern and Purdue missed out in their respective regionals. Michigan State, Ohio State and Purdue advanced to the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships following the conclusion of the regional championships on Saturday. Each team finished in the top eight of their respective regionals to move on to the championships.
