Another fun weekend of Big Ten football is in the books. There weren’t any upsets, but there were plenty of exceptional individual performances on both sides of the ball Saturday. Here are my top Week 8 Big Ten individual performances. 1. J.T. Barrett, QB, Ohio State. Barrett has officially cemented his name in the Heisman Trophy conversation. The Buckeyes’ redshirt freshman quarterback was phenomenal in Saturday’s 56-17 win over Rutgers, completing 19-of-31 passes for 261 yards and three touchdowns, to go along with 107 yards rushing and a pair of scores on the ground. 2. It was another exciting week of Big Ten action, as Nebraska took down Northwestern, Michigan State rolled Indiana, Ohio State drilled Rutgers, Maryland dropped Iowa and Minnesota held off Purdue. The results not only keep the Big Ten alive in the playoff picture (Michigan State, Nebraska and Ohio State), but they should yield another ranked team (Minnesota – 6-1, 3-0) when the latest polls come out Sunday.
