The Big Ten opened conference dual action with Iowa sweeping a pair of meets. In the season’s first edition of BTN Wrestling Report, BTN wrestling analyst Jim Gibbons joins host Kara Lentz to recap the action and look ahead to the bevy of duals this coming weekend. (See the full BTN schedule here.) Nebraska’s Robert Kokesh also joins the show to talk about his season so far with Lentz.

In a back and forth battle, the No. 9 Nebraska wrestling team took down Arizona State, 18-12, on Saturday night at the NU Coliseum. Wrestling in front of 778 fans, the Huskers improved to 5-1, while the Sun Devils fell to 5-2.

The No. 1 Gophers opened Big Ten action against the No. 9 ranked Cornhuskers and came out with a 27-7 win on Friday night.

Penn State was simply dominant en route to winning its second consecutive Big Ten Wrestling Championship on Sunday, crowning three repeat champions in a memorable title match run at Mackey Arena. The Nittany Lions were nearly perfect throughout Sunday’s session and ran away from both Minnesota and Iowa in the team title race. Penn State also has qualified nine wrestlers for NCAAs, with a 10th alive for an at-large bid.

The Big Ten Network will offer its most extensive Big Ten Wrestling Championships coverage ever, with all four sessions March 3 and 4 at Purdue on live television or online live. As part of the Big Ten Digital Network’s subscription package, BTN will provide live, whip-around Student U streaming coverage of the Big Ten wrestling preliminaries, beginning at 10 a.m. ET Saturday. Streaming coverage of select matches in sessions two and three will continue at 5 p.m. ET Saturday and at 1 p.m.m ET Sunday, respectively.
