J.T. Barrett, Ameer Abdullah top our Week 8 Big Ten top performances

Another fun weekend of Big Ten football is in the books. There weren’t any upsets, but there were plenty of exceptional individual performances on both sides of the ball Saturday. Here are my top Week 8 Big Ten individual performances. 1. J.T. Barrett, QB, Ohio State. Barrett has officially cemented his name in the Heisman Trophy conversation. The Buckeyes’ redshirt freshman quarterback was phenomenal in Saturday’s 56-17 win over Rutgers, completing 19-of-31 passes for 261 yards and three touchdowns, to go along with 107 yards rushing and a pair of scores on the ground. 2. Terran Petteway: 'Everybody is going to be coming for us'

When one thinks of Nebraska athletics, there is an immediate thought that likely comes to mind: Football. Don’t tell that to the Nebraska men’s basketball team. The Cornhuskers are coming off an impressive 19-13 season, which saw the program make its first NCAA tournament appearance since Bill Clinton was President. The Huskers were picked to finish fifth in the Big Ten in our poll of league beat writers. Nebraska is also ranked No. 21 in the nation heading into this season, according to a USA Today preseason poll, which was released on Thursday. In just two seasons under Tim

Dienhart: There are bonafide high expectations at Nebraska

His first two trips to Big Ten media days, Nebraska coach Tim Miles was out of the spotlight. Sure, he was always good for some comic relief. He even took out his cell phone once and snapped a picture of the assembled media and tweeted it. The media was in love. No doubt, Miles always left an impression as a personality. But the Nebraska team he coached didn’t create much of a stir. In fact, the Cornhuskers were picked to finish last in the Big Ten the last two years. “Well, yeah. You guys haven’t got it right yet,” chided
