The first Saturday of full-blown Big Ten action was filled with highs and lows, culminating with a pulsating 40-30 Ohio State victory over Northwestern that kept alive the Buckeyes’ national title dreams. Michigan State made a statement with a big win at Iowa, Indiana notched a signature win for Kevin Wilson, Nebraska had perhaps its best effort of the season, and Michigan posted a strong win after a couple shaky efforts. Before we turn our attention to Week 7, it’s time to revisit how the BTN.com team and Big Ten fans did with their Week 6 Big Ten predictions. Sean Merriman went 4-1 to lead the way, while Big Ten fans and the rest of our panel went 3-2. That means it’s Merriman and Big Ten fans tied atop the standings, at 46-9.

Jack Hoffman’s had quite a year. You may recall the young Nebraska fan and brain cancer patient had an incredibly moving and thrilling moment last spring when he ran for a touchdown during Nebraska’s spring game. It was nearly impossible to watch that clip and not smile – or even shed a tear. Now comes the good news that the eight-year-old’s brain tumor is stable and that his cancer is remission.
