The first Saturday of full-blown Big Ten action was filled with highs and lows, culminating with a pulsating 40-30 Ohio State victory over Northwestern that kept alive the Buckeyes’ national title dreams. Michigan State made a statement with a big win at Iowa, Indiana notched a signature win for Kevin Wilson, Nebraska had perhaps its best effort of the season, and Michigan posted a strong win after a couple shaky efforts. Jack Hoffman’s had quite a year. You may recall the young Nebraska fan and brain cancer patient had an incredibly moving and thrilling moment last spring when he ran for a touchdown during Nebraska’s spring game. It was nearly impossible to watch that clip and not smile – or even shed a tear. Now comes the good news that the eight-year-old’s brain tumor is stable and that his cancer is remission.
