Nebraska tops Oregon, makes first WCWS since 2002

It’s official: Nebraska is headed to its first Women’s College World Series since 2002. The 14th-seeded Huskers went into Eugene, Ore., and took two of three from No. 3 seed Oregon in the Eugene Super Regional to advance to Oklahoma City. Nebraska, which won Game 1 on Saturday, lost Game 2 in 11 innings Sunday afternoon before winning the decisive Game 3. Read Huskers.com recap.

Four Big Ten softball teams make NCAA tourney

A quartet of Big Ten softball teams were selected to the NCAA tourney, it was announced late Sunday night. Big Ten regular-season champ Michigan earned the No. 8 national seed and Nebraska the No. 14, while Minnesota and Big Ten tourney champ Wisconsin also made the field.
