Each Tuesday morning during the Big Ten football season, the 12 Big Ten football coaches hold a Big Ten teleconference with reporters from around the country. We post the audio for each segment of the call here, and we do this every Tuesday afternoon.
Well, this makes it official: The career of Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez apparently is over—according to his father. What a way to start Tuesday links. Martinez’s father, Casey Martinez, wrote in an email to the Associated Press on Monday night that said Taylor has a “debilitating injury” near the ball of his left foot that could take until February or March to heal fully. This is too bad. This was supposed to be Martinez’s senior season of glory, when it all came together as he led the Cornhuskers to the program’s first league title since 1999 and was a Heisman contender.
Ohio State saw its stock rise in the BCS standings—and it didn’t even play. Oregon’s loss to Stanford on Thursday allowed the Buckeyes to move from No. 4 to No. 3 in the BCS standings, one spot closer to being in position to play for the national championship.

Week 11 in the Big Ten featured plenty of highlight-reel plays. My two favorite: Ameer Abdullah’s dive into the end zone for the game-winning score at Michigan and Shane Wynn’s incredible diving catch near the sideline vs. Illinois. Didn’t see the plays? Watch them in this post. Also, vote for the top play.
If you’re on Twitter, you can vote in our ongoing series of Big Ten Twitter polls for our weekday TV show #BTNLive weekdays at 6 p.m. ET. On tonight’s #BTNLive show, our experts discuss this question: What was Saturday’s most memorable moment? Four options: #HuskersTD, #RobinsonRecord, #WynnCatch, #KillDance. Watch each video in this post, then cast your vote via Twitter.
Week 11 of the season was eye-opening on many levels. Nebraska is still alive and kicking with a chance to win the Legends Division, while Michigan is still searching for answers. And then there’s Minnesota, which keeps on authoring a new amazing chapter in its storybook season. Here is what I learned.
