The Big Ten Conference announced on Friday the sites for its 2013 and 2014 baseball tournaments. The 2013 Big Ten Baseball Tournament will be held at Target Field in Minneapolis, the home of Major League Baseball’s Minnesota Twins, marking the first time that the event will be held at a Major League Baseball facility. The 2014 tournament will be held at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb., the site of the NCAA Division I Men’s College World Series.

Penn State baseball (27-24, 13-8) completed a weekend sweep with a 3-2 victory over the Illinois Fighting Illini on Sunday afternoon. Thanks to the win, Penn State remains one-half game behind Indiana for second place in the Big Ten. Senior Jordan Steranka led the way with three hits, two of which were doubles and one of those doubles scoring senior Joey DeBernardis. Penn State baseball (24-22, 10-7) clinched its fourth-straight Big Ten series on Saturday evening, defeating the Minnesota Golden Gophers by a score of 5-1 at Target Field. Sunday’s series finale between the Nebraska baseball team and Cal State Bakersfield was canceled following a long delay. But that doesn’t mean the teams didn’t face off. No, instead of competing inside the lines, the Huskers and Roadrunners used the space between their respective dugout and baseline to host a dance-off and trade creative improvisations.
