The Big Ten Conference and member schools released their official lists of all Big Ten names past and present competing in the upcoming 2012 London Summer Olympics, which open this Friday. The list includes the handful of Big Ten athletes contributing Olympic journals to BTN.com, featuring an entertaining band of Big Ten swimmers. Find the official list by school in this post and click on the linked names to find the latest journals from those athletes.
Already debuting new football uniforms for the 2012 season, the Minnesota Gophers also will introduce a pair of new patches to their jerseys. Like the rest of the Big Ten, the Gophers will don the rectangular “B1G” logo patch on their jerseys. Above the conference-wide patch, they will honor late former teammate Gary Tinsley with a black circular patch that reads: “GT 51″. @GopherGridiron tweeted a picture of the patches, and you can see them in this post.

Tickets for the 2012 Big Ten Football Championship Game will go on sale to the general public on Saturday, July 28 at 10 a.m. ET. The second annual Big Ten Football Championship Game will be played on Saturday, December 1, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and will begin at 8:17 p.m. ET on FOX.
Minnesota director of athletics Norwood Teague announced Monday that Tubby Smith has agreed to terms on a contract extension through the 2016-17 season.

BTN and the American Cancer Society today announced that the Society will be the official charity and beneficiary of the BTN Big 10K. The sold-out event is Saturday, July 28, in downtown Chicago. The American Cancer Society will host a tent at the post-race FanFest & Tailgate party and provide information on future Society events, offering cancer prevention tips, and discussing their DetermiNation team, the Society’s “nation of athletes” determined to end cancer.
BTN will kick off the 2012 Big Ten football season Thursday, July 26, with nearly five hours of live televised coverage of Big Ten Football Media Days from the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago. The show also will be available on BTN2Go.
