After Minnesota downed No. 20 Wisconsin in overtime on Thursday night (and yes, there were many dunks), Minnesota coach Tubby Smith addressed his team in the locker room and then performed a most wonderful victory dance after announcing, “Today is a wonderful day, fellas. Andre Hollins hit the go-ahead 3-pointer midway through overtime to finish with 21 points and lead Minnesota to a 58-53 victory over No. 20 Wisconsin on Thursday night. It was third straight game Wisconsin went to overtime.

Talking on his radio show last night, Wisconsin A.D. Barry Alvarez said that Big Ten A.D.s have agreed to stop scheduling FCS schools in the future. Alvarez gave no indication on when Big Ten schools would stop playing FCS foes. But, it can’t happen soon enough in what often are little more than glorified scrimmages.
Wisconsin unveiled its Hockey City Classic uniform early last month. On Tuesday night, it was Minnesota’s turn. From an aesthetic perspective, it’s clear, the Badgers and Gophers will delight in their respective throwbacks Sunday at Soldier Field in Chicago.
Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany issued a statement to the Big Ten Network on Tuesday saying the league will look into a nine- and 10-game league schedule in the future.
