That was a fun first week of the Big Ten men’s hoops season? Five teams escaped the week unblemished, including Ohio State and Wisconsin, both of which are undefeated on the season.
One week of Big Ten action is in the books, as Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan State continue to lead the way. Illinois is a surprising 2-0 and thinking big, while Michigan has overcome injuries to forge a 2-0 start. Minnesota may be better than expected, while 1-1 Iowa is still formidable after a tough loss at Wisconsin on Sunday.

The easy narrative for Wisconsin’s win over Iowa is that Fran McCaffrey was hit with a double technical foul when his team held a 2-point lead, and that those four points gave Wisconsin the lead, the momentum, and the margin of victory.
Austin Hollins had a pair of slams on BTN.com’s top 10 nonconference dunks. The Minnesota senior exploded for another impressive flush in Sunday’s home game vs. Purdue. This time, Hollins used a shot fake from beyond the 3-point line to get to the basket for a powerful right-handed throw-down. Watch the dunk in this post.
Ben Brust scored a game-high 19 points as Wisconsin remained perfect with an impressive 75-71 come-from-behind victory over Iowa on Sunday night. In other Big Ten action, Michigan ran past Northwestern, 74-51, while Minnesota edged Purdue, 82-79.
