The Big Ten office announced the dates and opponents for the 2015-16 hockey season Wednesday, featuring 20-game schedules for each of the six conference programs. The schedule concludes with the 2016 Big Ten Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament, to be held March 17-19 at Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minn. Big Ten regular season and postseason champion Minnesota is the lone Big Ten men’s hockey team to make the NCAA field, it was announced Sunday. [ MORE: View the official NCAA tournament bracket ] The Gophers, who won the Big Ten tournament title Saturday night to claim the Big Ten’s automatic berth, open the tourney vs. Minnesota-Duluth at 5:30 p.m. ET Friday on ESPNU. Should Minnesota win, it would face the Boston University-Yale winner for a berth in the Frozen Four. This marks Minnesota’s fourth consecutive NCAA tourney appearance and the 36th in program history.

The top-seeded Minnesota women’s hockey team advanced to its fourth-straight NCAA championship game with a 3-1 win over Wisconsin on Friday night at Ridder Arena. Juniors Hannah Brandt and Maryanne Menefee recorded three points each to lead the Gophers (33-3-4). Junior goalie Amanda Leveille had 34 saves in the win.
