With the victory, the Gophers extended their NCAA-record winning streak to 49 games, dating back to Feb. 18, 2012. The victory also gave the WCHA its 13th consecutive NCAA title.

No. 10 Denver scored a 2-0 win on Friday to upset the second-ranked Minnesota Gophers.

There’s never been a hockey game played at historic Soldier Field in Chicago. That all will change Sunday, as No. 18 Wisconsin battles rival and No. 2 Minnesota in the second of two games at the Office Max Hockey City Classic. The Badgers and Gophers are scheduled to battle at 4:30 p.m. ET on BTN/BTN2Go. Before the puck drops, though, make sure to catch our “Big Ten Hockey Pre-Game” at 4 p.m.

Wisconsin unveiled its Hockey City Classic uniform early last month. On Tuesday night, it was Minnesota’s turn. From an aesthetic perspective, it’s clear, the Badgers and Gophers will delight in their respective throwbacks Sunday at Soldier Field in Chicago.

A lot of hockey action took place Friday night. As seen on BTN,  Michigan edged Michigan State 3-2 at Yost Ice Arena. In Columbus, the Buckeyes upset ninth-ranked Notre Dame 6-3. In women’s hockey action, Minnesota won their seventh WCHA regular season title against Minnesota Duluth with a 5-0 win.
