Early look at NCAA Tournament mock brackets

It’s mid-January. Seems like a good time to start taking a look at some mock NCAA brackets. Things are looking good for Wisconsin and Michigan State, which are primed to be No. 1 seeds. Michigan, Iowa and Ohio State also are solid tourney teams for now. But teams like Minnesota and Indiana may bob in and out of these mock brackets all winter. First, there’s Jerry Palm of CBSSports.com, my personal favorite because he’s a Purdue grad who studied computers and played in the All-American Marching Band. And, I know how smart those guys are, having gone to Purdue myself.

Ups & downs: Reviewing & previewing hoops

It’s time for my Big Ten basketball 3-Pointers, my look back at the week that was in the Big Ten—with a sneak peek at what’s to come. It has been a good week to be Minnesota and Indiana. It hasn’t been such a good week to be Ohio State and Illinois. And if you’re Richard Pitno’s jacket from Thursday night, you had a little bit of good and bad this week. Read on, Big Ten fans! Three Stocks to Buy: 1. Minnesota. Dinkytown residents probably woke up this morning to hear chants of “Ski-U-Mah!” Why not? Minnesota looks legit after

State your case in the comments section below or drop me a note for my mailbag. And if you want a sneak peek at 2014 preseason rankings, I wrote about one I found a little while ago, but it’s

Big Ten Geeks: This was a huge one for Indiana

Indiana picked up a huge victory over previously unbeaten and No. 3 Wisconsin on Tuesday night. The significance of this win for Indiana cannot be overstated. This is a team that entered the night without a single quality win, a team that would not have made the NCAA tournament had the season ended just before this game. Now, the Hoosiers have a top-notch win and a clear path to a 9-9 conference record, which would seemingly be enough to make the tournament. There’s still a chance that Indiana is the second coming of last year’s Iowa Hawkeyes, with a weak

Video: Glenn Robinson III soars for nasty alley-oop

Glenn Robinson III in the open floor is a wonderful thing to watch. It’s even better when he’s in the open floor and one of his Michigan teammates lobs an alley-oop his way. That was the case in Tuesday night’s 80-67 win vs. Penn State, and Robinson III didn’t disappoint at all on the transition alley-oop. Watch the highlight and another one of his dunks in this post. INSTANT HIGHLIGHT: Buckle up! Glenn Robinson III just threw down a nasty @umichbball transition alley-oop. Ranking starting lineups for every Big Ten team

We are in the second week of January, which means that the college basketball season is officially at the midway point. Through two months, Wisconsin is the only Big Ten team without a loss this season, sitting at a perfect 16-0. The Badgers are joined by Michigan State and Michigan as the only three teams without a conference loss. So, what do all of these teams have in common outside of impressive win-loss records? Exceptional starting lineups. This list ranks all 12 starting fives in the Big Ten, counting down from 12-to-1. [ MORE: Bardo: Most surprising players in the
