Unbeaten Michigan rolls past C. Michigan

Trey Burke scored 22 points to lift No. 2 Michigan to an 88-73 win over Central Michigan on Saturday. Burke contributed 11 assists, shot 9-of-12 from the field, and shot 4-of-7 from long range. Nik Stauskas contributed 19 points, corralled seven rebounds, knocked down 6-of-10 shot attempts, and drilled 5-of-8 three-pointers.

Stauskas shows off three-point shooting skills

During Saturday night’s basketball game between Michigan and Central Michigan on BTN, we aired a short look at a video from Michigan freshman sharpshooter Nik Stauskas during a timeout. Posted earlier this week on YouTube, the entire video was shot in the backyard of Stauskas’ home in Canada over the holiday break. It shows the Big Ten’s top three-point shooter in the nation nailing 45 of 50 attempts on his own hoop.

Outback Bowl: Michigan vs. South Carolina

Michigan came close to winning the Legends Division but still is in search of its first league title since 2004. A win here would prime the program for a strong run in 2013, as this is a young roster. Three of the team’s four losses were to the top three teams in the nation: Notre Dame; Alabama; Ohio State. The other was to 10-win Nebraska.

Season in review: Michigan football

Michigan was the highest-rated Big Ten team in the AP preseason poll at No. 8, but it was undone by youth, injuries and a brutal schedule. The offense struggled much of the season, getting little production from the tailbacks and an inconsistent effort up front in Brady Hoke’s second season in Ann Arbor.

Did You See This? Stauskas outdoor 3-point clinic

Here’s something Big Ten hoops fans learned quickly this season: Michigan freshman Nik Stauskas can shoot. Like really well. Through his first 12 games, the sharpshooter is nailing 51 percent of his shots, including 56 percent from distance (34-of-61).
