Earlier this season, Michigan wore special uniforms against Notre Dame for the first night game at Michigan Stadium (see the uniform!) and did so again when it played at rival Michigan State (see the uniform!), so it should come as no surprise it will unveil another alternate jersey for the Sugar Bowl. Adidas recently designed several new “Legacy”-type Michigan duds and the Wolverine seniors selected their favorite style (see AnnArbor.com’s story & detailed portrait!), which they will wear next month against Virginia Tech, the school confirmed Tuesday.

Here’s a great play for you. At first glance, you might say, “That’s a pretty nice buzzer-beater.” Then, if you watch the play again, you can’t help but miss the powerful – and, let it be known, legal – pick set by Blake McLimans to make the terrific last-second shot possible. Watch McLimans’ leveling pick and freshman Trey Burke’s buzzer-beater to end the first half against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Tuesday night at Crisler Arena now.

It’s time to release my latest Big Ten men’s hoops power rankings. The rankings are not meant to mimic the Big Ten standings. What fun would that be? They aren’t scientific, either. They’re simply my thoughts on where each Big Ten team stands right now and who would win on a neutral court. Agree? Disagree? Tweet @BTNBrentYarina or leave your comments below. Watch Gus Johnson call Ben Brust’s sixth 3-pointer from Saturday’s win over UNLV now and see the rankings in this post.
For the first time since D.J. White and Eric Gordon suited for the Hoosiers, Indiana is ranked in both major college basketball polls. Indiana, fresh off its upset victory over then-No. 1 Kentucky on Saturday, came in at No. 18 in AP Poll and No. 20 in the Coaches Poll, its first national ranking since the 2007-08 season. The Hoosiers are 9-0 and visit instate foe Notre Dame on Saturday. Ohio State remained No. 2 despite its loss at Kansas, while Michigan State also debuted in the polls. See the latest rankings.
Everyone knew Ohio State’s Braxton Miller was talented and likely headed for a promising college football career. But few thought he’d have a big impact as a true freshman in 2011. Miller was thrust into the starting lineup early in 2011 and proceeded to enjoy the best season of any Big Ten freshman. This is why the precocious Miller, the Big Ten’s Thompson-Randle El Freshman of the Year, headlines BTN.com’s 2011 All-Freshman Team.
