(AP) Denard Robinson ran for 198 yards and accounted for three touchdowns, leading Michigan to a 31-3 win over Eastern Michigan on Saturday. The Wolverines (3-0) started poorly on both sides of the ball, trailing early in the second quarter, and finished strong. Robinson threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to give Michigan a 28-3 lead late in the third quarter. The Eagles (2-1) drove into Michigan territory on their first five possessions, but came away with just a field goal. They fumbled, got stopped on fourth-and-goal from the 1, threw an interception and punted in a half filled with missed opportunities. Revsine's Numbers: Illini on the rise

I wouldn’t necessarily have thought this going into the season, but the game that excites me the most on the Big Ten slate this weekend is Illinois’ game with Arizona State. Obviously, Ohio State–Miami and Michigan State–Notre Dame are generating more national buzz.  But Gerry, Howard and I thought the Illini were a legitimate contender in the Leaders Division when we watched them in the pre-season  and this is our first opportunity to see if we’re right.

Fans' action helps heart attack victim

Pretty amazing story coming out of last weekend’s thrilling night game at Michigan. According to AnnArbor.com, sixty-nine-year-old Leo Staudacher was cheering for Notre Dame Sept. 10 when he felt sharp pain in his shoulder during the second quarter.

As discussed here last Wednesday, the Week 2 schedule was a lot more challenging than what the Big Ten faced in the opening week. As a result, the Big Ten struggled to a 7-5 record, one week after going 10-2. Well, the Week 3 schedule has a few more tough tests, with dates against Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Arizona State and Miami (Fla.). The Big Ten Conference announced the three players of the week after a wild and exciting weekend of football. Offensive honors went to Michigan’s Denard Robinson, who led the Wolverines to 28 fourth-quarter points, including two touchdowns in the final 1:12, in a 35-31 win over Notre Dame. The star quarterback accounted for 446 of Michigan’s 452 total yards and had a hand in all five of the team’s touchdowns. See all the honorees inside.
